Eco Housing Solutions (EHS) has announced a strategic partnership with UniSteel, one of Uganda’s leading steel manufacturers, for the Urbanisation Forum and 20th Homes Expo 2026, strengthening private-sector participation in the country’s urban development agenda.

The partnership places manufacturing and quality building materials at the centre of conversations around Uganda’s rapidly evolving cities, housing demand and infrastructure requirements.

The Urbanisation Forum brings together government, financial institutions, developers, manufacturers, investors and development partners to examine practical pathways for financing, planning and delivering sustainable urban growth.

EHS Chairman Dr. Edwin Musiime said, “Uganda’s urban transformation will require strong collaboration with companies capable of supporting the physical infrastructure upon which modern cities are built.

“Development partners such as UniSteel are critical to the urbanisation agenda. We cannot speak about sustainable cities, quality housing and resilient infrastructure without addressing the quality of the materials that go into building them,” Dr. Musiime said.

He added that strengthening domestic manufacturing has wider economic implications.

When we build local manufacturing capacity, we are not only building infrastructure; we are strengthening value chains, creating employment, supporting enterprise and developing greater resilience within our economies. This is fundamental to Uganda and East Africa’s long-term competitiveness.

Through the partnership, UniSteel will participate in the Urbanisation Forum and Homes Expo, providing an opportunity to engage industry stakeholders on manufacturing, construction quality and infrastructure development.

The partnership reflects the Forum’s broader ambition to connect policy, capital, industry and innovation as Uganda and the wider East African region navigate a new era of urban growth.
