The Urbanisation Forum and Homes Expo brought together stakeholders from across Uganda’s construction, housing, real estate and infrastructure sectors to explore how the country can respond to the opportunities and challenges created by rapid urbanisation.
Among the key discussions was the need for stronger, more reliable construction systems capable of supporting the growing demand for homes, commercial developments and infrastructure across Uganda’s expanding urban centres.
Uni Steel Investments Uganda Limited used the platform to highlight the importance of quality steel and construction materials in supporting this growth.
Speaking at the event, Lukuman Sebidde, Sales and Marketing Director at Uni Steel Investments Uganda Limited, emphasised the importance of building with materials that can support the country’s long-term development ambitions.
“As Uganda continues to urbanise, we have to look at the quality of the structures we are putting up today and the kind of cities we want to have tomorrow,” said Sebidde.
His remarks highlighted the role of steel beyond its use as a construction material. As cities expand and demand for housing, commercial spaces and infrastructure increases, reliable building materials remain essential to delivering structures that can meet the needs of a growing population.
For developers, contractors and homeowners, the choice of construction materials can have a direct impact on the quality, durability and overall performance of a project. This makes the availability of dependable steel products an important part of Uganda’s wider construction ecosystem.
The discussions at the Urbanisation Forum also underscored the importance of collaboration across the construction value chain.
Manufacturers, developers, contractors, architects, financial institutions and policymakers all have a role to play in ensuring that Uganda’s urban growth is supported by infrastructure capable of serving communities for generations.
Uni Steel’s participation therefore added an important perspective to the conversation: urbanisation is not only about building more, but about building the foundations of the cities Uganda wants to create.
As Uganda’s urban centres continue to grow, companies within the construction materials sector will remain an important part of translating the country’s urban development ambitions into physical, lasting infrastructure.
